Thinking Out Cloud
Today I want to post about depression. I know, I know ... everyone probably posts about it. That they are there for you. There is no reason to be sad. How can they help? That's all you ever hear. Well, I am going to post off of personal experience.
Although you would love for someone to say that everything is going to get better; as a depressed person it would take the slightest miracle to believe that. It's not even the fact that you don't want to accept the statement, it's that you don't know where to begin.
When you're depressed, there is no one way that you feel.
You can look like the happiest person in the world but inside you dont feel worth anything: you're sad, pissed, angry, you wanna cry, your thoughts are scattered. This is the reason someone who is depressed can't shake the feeling that death is their only way out.
To define depression in the easiest way is to say that depression is like drowning but you see everyone around you breathing. The world doesn't stop just because you aren't feeling yourself. This is another reason why depression is so hard to shake.
So, how do you help someone who is depressed ?
Don't tell them they are wrong, DO NOT try and compare yourself to them. Simply tell them that you truly are there for them. If someone comes out to you and says "Hey, I'm not feeling myself, I feel depressed." it means that they already trust the fact that you will know how to help them. These are the people who want to find a way out. They want to be themselves. Their old self at that. Be the best friend that you can be at that time and you will be sure to help save a life ! {;
Life really is beautiful, you just have to realize it.
